The School Day
The school day starts at 8:45 a.m. and finishes between 3.00 and 3.15pm, depending on your child's year group.
Registration is from 8:45 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Every morning between 9:00 a.m. and 12 noon every class has English and maths. Throughout the afternoon, the children have the foundation subjects, the rest of the core curriculum subjects, P.E. and music.
During the week, children have assemblies in different settings. On Monday the whole school meet together in the KS2 hall. From Tuesday onwards KS1 and KS2 have separate assemblies. Thursday they have singing assembly, and Friday the children have separate celebration assemblies to share their achievements from the week. On occasion visitors from different religious faiths and denominations come and share assemblies with the children.
We use these assemblies as an opportunity to explore religious festivals from a wide range of religions, moral choices, British Values and ways in which we can inspire our children to reach their full potential.
The children have a morning break from 10:45 a.m. until 11.00 am. There is a Milk Bar for KS2 children where children can purchase milk or fruit daily. EYFS and KS1 children are given a fruit snack each day.
Lunchtime begins between 12 noon for KS1 and 12.15pm for KS2 and runs until 1.00 pm. Each year group has a time slot to be seated for their lunch which is rotated on a weekly basis
Drop off and collection
Nursery and Reception children should enter the school via their allocated door between 8.30am and 8.45am. Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children should enter the school grounds via the Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2 gate between 8.30am and 8.40am so that they are on the playground ready for the whistle at 8.45am.
Children should be collected from their allocated door at the following times unless they are attending an after school club:
Nursery - Morning session - 11.30 am
Afternoon session 3.15pm
Reception/Key Stage 1 - 3.00pm
Key Stage 2 - 3.05pm
If for any reason you are unavoidably detained, please inform us and your child will be asked to wait at the school office.
Getting to school
To get to and from school, walking is definitely the best option! There are lots of benefits: it’s healthier than travelling by car, it improves the safety of pedestrians and road-users and it respects nearby residents and parking regulations. We have bike racks within the school gates which can be used by all year groups. Scooters and bikes should all be used with parent supervision. If you do need to travel by car, please park in the car park opposite.
After School Provision
We now offer extended after school provision with sessions being available from 3-6pm Monday to Friday.
The club is supervised by our own excellent Friars staff and is very reasonably priced at £4 per hour or £10 for the full 3 hours, which also includes a light snack. If you are interested, please ask the office for a registration form.
