Year 6 theatre show
On the Friday before half-term, Year 6 had a workshop visit them on the subject of gang culture, its pitfalls, how to recognise gang culture and how to deal with it. Super Splash Heroes assembly
Pupils from Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 were lucky to be visited by the Super Splash Heroes from Essex and Suffolk Water. The came in to give us an enjoyable and informative show on how we can save water and the important reasons for doing so. I am sure that they will be coming home with some helpful suggestions about water conservation!

Year 6 Bikeability
In recent weeks, our Year 6 children have taken part in Bikeability. The children were able to learn about riding their bikes on the road and the safety precautions to take when doing so. They were led by instructors who taught them key skills for riding a bike. Others continued their learning in the playground and had a thoroughly fun time improving their skills.

Netball vs. Bournemouth Park
Yesterday the Friars Netball Team played against Bournemouth Park. It went quite well in the first half and Friars were doing very well but then Bournemouth Park started to score. Although we lost 4-2 our team played very well for their first Netball match. Report by Freya

Mr Greenstein talk with Year 6
On Wednesday 17th October 2018, Mr. Greenstein, who is a member of the Jewish synagogue in Westcliff, came to talk to the Year 6 classes. He explained the basics of the Jewish religion and some of the differences between the Jewish and Christian religion. Essex Fire and Rescue Service
Stuart from Essex Fire and Rescue Service came to school on Friday in order to tell us some important safety advice in the build up to Firework Night and Halloween. The children were told important information for trick or treating and how to be safe with fireworks and sparklers.
The Firework Code offers advice for adults and children.
Firework Code
• Only buy fireworks marked BS 7114.
• Don’t drink alcohol if setting off fireworks.
• Keep fireworks in a closed box.

Congratulations to the children who were awarded our achievement leaves for super work in maths, brilliant attitude to work and working hard to get good results. Buddy Certificates Buddy certificates were given out for great friends who help other people and take care of them on the playground. Year one autumn walk
Mrs Bennett, Mr Burnham, Miss Morris and Miss Linden would like to say a massive thank you to the mums and dads who helped year one at the park this morning.
