Attendance Assembly
Today we celebrated our school attendance! Mr Roche explained the importance of good attendance and how being absent from school can drastically affect our life chances and our performance both academically and socially. We celebrated the fact that we are currently meeting our 96% target after the autumn and spring terms. KS2 Celebration Assembly
Our certificate winners today were celebrated for a range of reasons. It was particularly nice to hear how focussed and hardworking Year 6 have been during SATS week.
6D won the Attendance Cup with 100% this week and Stormont won the House Cup.

KS1 Celebration Assembly
Well done to the children achieving their next key word certificate. We gave out over 30 certificates in our assembly this week. Achievement leaves were given out to children for great reasons such as independent work, great maths, being a star in the year group assembly and super improvements to their work. Reception enjoy Bikeability
Children in Reception have all taken part in bikeability this week. We started the sessions discussing safety with regards to clothing, shoes and helmets. After having our helmets correctly fitted the children were off. Each child was at a different starting point. Some were already confident riders so they were encouraged to use their brakes and control the bikes through and around cones. KS2 Celebration assembly
Congratulations to our certificate winners this week. It was great to hear so many of them being handed out for reasons of respect and friendship following on from Mrs Lee's assembly on Monday. Well done to 5B for winning the Penguin of Power for being eco-friendly and switching their lights off. Stormont and Windsor tied the House cup this week and 4G won the Attendance Cup again with 100%!

FRED Launch
On Monday we launched our exciting new reading project – FRED (Fathers Reading Every Day), which is designed to encourage dads to read with their nursery and reception aged children at home. The parents that came were given a presentation by Cassius Campbell from the Fatherhood Institute and heard how just five minutes of reading with a significant male role model can help your child do better in school, have higher self-esteem, build better relationships with other children,

Talent Squad
Southend Diving have now reached the final stage of selections for forming their Talent Squad for the new season. 30 children out of 1500+ have been invited to this and I am delighted to say that 1 is a pupil from Friars Primary School.
