This week as always, we celebrated the hard work and effort of all our children! In KS1 certificates were awarded for careful listening, great attitude to outdoor learning, focused writing, making links to previous learning, extending sentences with adjectives, great times table work, following instructions and applying the methods taught in maths to solve calculations! Chick on Tour - Week 2
What a difference a week makes! Our chicks have really changed and are already growing wing feathers. They have been to meet lots of excited children from Nursery through to Year 6. Some lucky children learnt how to handle the chicks, which is quite a tricky thing to do! What a special experience for everyone! We are looking forward to watching how our chicks grow and change over the next week.

Celebration Assembly – 11th March 2022
It was a week where all of our pupils had to demonstrate hard work, effort and how much they had already learnt this year, as many of our children completed their termly assessments. It was great to hear about the children that had really impressed their teachers with their perseverance, attitude and progress they had made. The chicks have arrived at Friars!
On Monday morning, Mr McClay and Mr Roche took delivery of ten eggs for Year 2. The eggs were in an incubator to keep them warm. The children were very excited waiting for the first chick to hatch (as well as all of the Year 2 Team!). Early on Wednesday morning, we saw the first signs of ‘pipping’ when a chick began to emerge from one of the eggs. Within a short time, we had our first Friars chick – quickly followed by three more! Celebration Assembly – 4th March 2022
Wow, what a week! This week we had extra assemblies and activities going on as part of our Book week, but all of the fun still didn’t stop our children showing off the great things they have been doing in the classroom and we celebrated some great achievements in line with our Friars core values.
