Healthy Schools

At Friars we want our children to grow into healthy young adults. With this in mind, we focus on getting the children physically active as often as possible and attempt to find a sport to suit everyone. We invite a variety of agencies into the school to promote healthy living.

We held a healthy eating focus week and found it so successful that we are going to continue this throughout the year.

What does this mean?

  • There will be only healthy choices I breakfast club, including fruit and yogurt and wholemeal bread

  • Snack bar will be 25p and will sell milk, yogurts, fruit and healthy wraps or rolls

  • There will be awards for healthy packed lunches – try to ditch the crisps in favor of fruit and cheese

  • There will be parent workshops on healthy eating

  • There are awards for healthy eating and you can see the winners on our website

We have been encouraging the children to bring healthy lunches. Here are some examples of healthy packed lunches that our children have brought to school.

Example 1

  • Wholemeal ham wrap

  • Yogurt

  • Carrots, grapes and tomatoes

Example 2

  • Ham and cheese sandwich

  • Fruit

  • Yogurt

  • Malt loaf
