Dentist Service Visits Friars

During the week before half term the school was visited by the Southend Community Dentist Service. They have a special mobile dental unit which arrived in our school playground to much interest from the children! Each class was given a talk about how we should take care of our teeth including which types of foods and drink to avoid and how to brush our teeth properly. The children used a large model of the mouth to practise using the correct brush strokes to clean the teeth well. In the mobile dentist unit, the children were able to experience what it is like to sit in the dentist’s chair and were shown the instruments which a dentist may use to examine your teeth. The children were rewarded for their contribution to the sessions with a sticker!
