KS1/KS2

The children across the school have been working so hard across the past two weeks. All of the staff have been so impressed. This week’s certificates were given out for lots of great reasons and we could see our School Values in action. Also this week, we gave out our first Handwriting Certificates. Congratulations if you received a certificate this week!

Attendance

Attendance has looked really good across the school this week with lots of classes achieving above 95% (8!) and many (5) climbing above 97% which is our school’s aspirational target.

Remember that every time a class scores above 97% they are awarded a sticker for the Spin the Wheel chart. This week a special well done to 2W, 4L, 2S, 6S and 3SM. Winner for Key Stage 1 was 2S and in Key Stage 2 it was 3SM.

Mrs. Snow seems to think her class will win every week after two consecutive victories… the other classes certainly do not agree!!!

Team Points

The first points of the academic year are on the board… and last year’s winners Stirling have taken top spot. The blue team clearly mean to start where they left off. In second we have last year’s fourth-placed team Stormont, in third Windsor and in fourth Caernarfon.

Obviously, it is too early for this to mean much… and last year our first leader was Stormont only for them to finish in last place by July.

Again, good luck to all four of our house teams for 2025-26!

Reception 2026

In October and November, we will be hosting tours of the school for prospective parents who are thinking about sending their children to Friars in September 2026. If you have a child of that age, or have friends and family who do, we would be grateful if you could share the dates with them.

Tour 1: Tuesday October 21 at 9:30am

Tour 2: Tuesday October 21 at 1:30pm

Tour 3: Thursday November 13 at 9:30am

Tour 4: Thursday November 13 at 1:30pm

Tours will last approximately 45 minutes. Both parents and children are welcome to attend.

Our first full week with the children has flown by and we are certainly back in the full swing of things.

This week it has been lovely to welcome back Nursery children to the school and to see lots of new starters. Our Reception children have had their first complete day with us today and it has been really fantastic. It is great when the children are all in and the school is full once again.

Next week a number of after-school clubs are starting. We look forward to welcoming the children along to these and we hope they enjoy them! Thank you to the staff members giving up their time to facilitate these. There will be news about more clubs as we move through the term.

Also, next week we will be meeting our new School Council. Congratulations to the children who have been selected to be this year’s School Councillors and Vice-Councillors – it is always an honour to be selected for positions of responsibility by your peers.

Have a lovely weekend everyone and see you on Monday.
