Celebration Assembly – 19th May 2023

It has been another busy week full of great learning and achievement at Friars.

KS1 Awards

Well done to our KS1certificate winners this week. Year 2 winners were nominated by their teachers for showing great attitude towards their work, getting amazing results and showing a super effort all week. While, Year 1 children were recognised for being focused and working hard in all lessons, for independent writing and for using great adjectives in their work.



Buddy Awards

Our Buddy Awards were awarded to Tanner for helping a friend when they fell over and Adhaat for making a paper frog for a friend. Both boys were nominated by their friends for these awards.



Rainbow Readers

Congratulations to all of our Rainbow Readers who have earnt their awards for lots of reading at home!



KS2 Awards

There were some brilliant awards given out this week in KS2.

Year 3 children were recognised for perseverance when swimming, maintaining a high level of writing, producing a great letter of persuasion and for wonderful planning of their DT project.

In Year 4, certificates were awarded for working with a peer, tackling super hard maths challenges.

Mrs Pinckney also recognised Bluebella in 3MV for her confidence and helpfulness in computing this week.



In Year 5, certificates were awarded for amazing art work when sketching portraits, for writing detailed non-chronological reports on Tudors and for showing great skills of leadership and assistance during Outdoor Learning.

Year 6 children were recognised for amazing independent writing, great work around parabolic curves in maths, having a super attitude to their learning and adding extra detail to enhance their writing.

Mrs Pinckney also recognised Lewis in 6B for his written recount of the 3D printing visit in computing last week.



Computing class of the half term

This week the computing class of the week award went to 5A for their enthusiasm to their learning. Ava collected the award on behalf of her class.



Special Assembly Shout outs

Shouts went to Ava-Rae and Thea in 3MV and Jayleigh and Kalessie in 4S for being brilliant helpers to Ms Nickol and Mrs Harkins in the dinner hall. The girls have been busy clearing away, cleaning tables and returning the trollies.

Attendance

It was Class 2S who won the KS1 Attendance Cup this week, recording 94.3%.

While in KS2, Class 6B won the Attendance Cup with a best in school figure of 97.7%.

Our overall whole school attendance stood at 93% again this week.

Team Points

Blue was the colour as Stirling took the Team Cups in both KS1 and KS2 this week.

This leaves Stirling 90 points clear of their nearest rivals Stormont, and the clear favourites to lift the Friars Cup in July.

Can anybody stop them?
