Friars v Greenways – Two matches involving Friars A and B Teams

Friars played against Greenways on Wednesday 3rd November 2021 after school. I watched the A team game with Corey in goal.

Greenways score the first goal of the match. Another great save from Corey follows. Greenways score another 2 goals and it's 3-0. Corey saves another shot with a great save. It was 4-0 at the half time break as the teams discuss what they are doing next. After halftime Corey changed to midfielder as Maddie goes in goal and Phoebe plays for the team. Jeffrey runs through and Henry has a shot but it goes wide. Greenways shoot at Maddie and she stops the ball with her ankle but the ball goes in the net. That was the end of the game, Friars lost but it was a good game.

This was the first fixture at Friars since November 2019 and the result was not the important thing for both teams, it was just about enjoying competing against another school.

Although we did not manage to score a goal in either game, the commitment from both the A and B teams was there to see. A special mention must go to Phoebe and Maddie who were picked to represent the school football team based on their ability. They did not look out of place playing against the boys and we believe that if you are good enough then nothing should stand in your way of achieving your goals.
