Ilam - Wednesday
Another good night at the hostel, another fab breakfast and another day packed full of activities. A change from walking today as we were on the Tissington Trail cycling on mountain bikes. The Tissington Trail is a disused railway line that has been turned into a cycle path. It was fantastic! We cycled for over an hour in one direction before turning and cycling back.
The afternoon was spent at Chatsworth. Oh my goodness… what an amazing place. The gardens and house are simply stunning and we enjoyed both. We spent time outside in the maze after having a very interesting walk inside the house. Chatsworth is steeped in history and many of us felt we recognised it from TV and film.
It was a tiring day so we were all pleased when we found our seats on the coach to return to Ilam Hall, collapsing with happy sighs.
We’re all looking forward to this evening’s pasta bolognese or jacket potatoes and the activities we have organised.
Tomorrow is the big one… Alton Towers! We will sort out groups tonight, based on the rides the children want to try to experience. Mr. McClay is still hoping to go to CBeebies Land and to avoid the ‘thrill seeking’ group. The tea cups are quite enough for him.
Have a good evening.
Much love from everyone at Ilam Hall
