Year 5 & 6 Welcome Dennis to the Rescue!
Our Year 5 and 6 pupils recently enjoyed an exciting and educational visit from Dennis to the Rescue, the mobile classroom operated by SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK. The converted Dennis Eagle refuse truck provided a unique learning experience, helping children understand the importance of reducing waste, recycling correctly and staying safe around large vehicles. Through a range of interactive activities, pupils discovered what happens to our rubbish after it is collected and learned how small changes can make a big difference to the environment. One of the highlights of the day was a fun recycling challenge on the school field. Pieces of litter were scattered around the area and the children worked together to collect the items before sorting them into the correct recycling and waste bins. The activity tested their knowledge of recyclable materials and reinforced the importance of disposing of waste responsibly. The pupils were highly engaged throughout the visit, asking thoughtful questions and demonstrating a real enthusiasm for protecting the environment. They particularly enjoyed stepping inside the specially designed mobile classroom and taking part in the hands-on activities. It was a fantastic experience and one that our Year 5 and 6 children will remember for a long time to come.
