Cyber Safety Session
On Wednesday afternoon, 25th April, Year 6 were visited by Stuart from Southend Fire Service where they participated in a 'Cyber Safety Session.' They listened to how to keep their personal details safely online, including names, date of birth and pictures; what apps they are old enough to use (are you aware that as of today you can't have a 'What's App' account unless you are sixteen or older); online gaming and the potential problems of it; cyber bullying and how to deal with any problems caused by online activities. The children listened intently, raised genuine concerns and asked sensible questions. Please discuss with your children what they learnt so you are aware what they have access to online via their laptop, tablet or phone and what they are involved with and who they are talking to. It was a timely reminder about how the internet can have a negative impact as well as a positive one.
