Celebration Assembly – 23rd September 2022

Another great week of fun learning and focused, fabulous Friars children who have really impressed their teachers this week.

Key Stage 1

Our KS1 certificate winners, were given awards for their brilliant counting up to and beyond 100, adventurous word choices in their writing and for completing all of their work before taking on extra challenges. The excellent description used in their writing was also recognised along with their all-round effort in all areas of the curriculum.

Well done Years 1 & 2.

Key words

This week we awarded an absolutely amazing 43 key word certificates to our Year 2 children for learning their words both in school and at home. A special mention needs to go to Amie for earning her gold medal for learning all of her key words.

Buddy awards

This week our KS1 buddies were all awarded Buddy Awards for helping others and being a good friend. Gracie, Lexi, Taylor and Harley helped their classmates with writing, in computing and on the playground. Thank you for being great role models to your classes.

Oscar and Ralph in Year 1 also got special assembly shout outs for always sitting smartly on the carpet and being ready for their learning.

Key Stage 2

Well done to all of our KS2 winners who were awarded certificates in line with our core school values of respect, resilience, working collaboratively, aiming high with challenging work, which of course all leads to overall success in their learning.

Computer Class of the Week

Mrs Pinckney awarded 4S the ‘Computing Class of the Week’ award for their all-round computing effort which included improved focus, great following of instructions and for coming in and settling to their learning so quickly. Mrs Pinckney also mentioned how amazing their ongoing designs for their posters and PowerPoints are looking. What a great job 4S!

Sports Superstar award

Mrs Axelson has also had her spies out and about in PE lessons this week and the Sports Superstar award was awarded to Callum for his effort shown to fully participate and get involved in his PE lesson this week. Well done Callum.

Attendance

After already winning the computing award this week, 4S did the double by also winning the KS2 attendance cup with a very respectable 95.4%. However, this was eclipsed by Class 2S who took the KS1 attendance cup with a perfect 100% and the unrivalled best attendance in the school.

Our overall school attendance stood at 93% this week.

Team Points

Well done to our green team, Stormont who won the KS1 team cup this week and Windsor, the reds, who were our KS2 winners.

The battle for the Friars Cup is really getting going now as Stirling became the first team to go past the 100 points mark, closely followed by Stormont in second place.

But with our winners not being unveiled until July, there are still hundreds more points to be won!

Congratulations to all of our winners this week!
